Making A Difference
EVENTS PROGRAM
Tourism through Events
SPORTS & TOURISM
CBBT has now ran its successful Tourism focused events program for the last 5 years.
Via this program CBBT in partnership with the Berrigan and Moira Shire Council's, Barooga Sports Club and Victorian State Government either directly run, support, facilitate or host around 9 events each year, the purpose of which is to bring visitors to town for multiple days.
In 2023/24 the program, which costs CBTT about $180,000 annually to deliver, hosted 9 events, brought over 2,500 visitors to the region for 34 days. The events hosted across 10 different venues supported a direct spend in our towns of around $2.5m.
These events included:
* The Australian Beach Volleyball Tour Event at Thompson's Beach
* The Tri-State Games across multiple venues
* The Murray River Festival of Golf at Cobram Barooga Golf Club
* The Vic University Mixed Ultimate Frisbee at Apex Park and Cobram Showgrounds
* The PGA Australasia National Associate Championships at Cobram Barooga Golf Club
LOVE LOCAL, SUPPORT LOCAL
Promoting Buy Local
WHY LEAVE TOWN
The ultimate gift card, where you buy locally, spend locally, support locally.
Since inception the WLT Program, delivered in partnership with the Moira Shire Council has facilitated more than $100,000 in local spending.
CBBT has implemented programs where we provide each of our Sports Events Program visitors with a $10 card, which our reports show us results in direct spending on hospitality, retail and visiting other attractions while they are here.
We are also seeing local businesses use the cards for staff rewards and gifts.
It costs CBBT around $25,000 annually to deliver this program including subscription fees, card printing and promotion.
To have your business included in the WLT Program visit our member page for more details.
BUSINESS SUPPORT AND NETWORKING
strengthening local business
Each year CBBT aims to support, facilitate or directly run at least two major and four smaller events. These events may include program launches or promotion, education opportunities or social networking as well as social events associated with hosted sports events.
EASTER RIVER BEACHES FESTIVAL
community celebration
Cobram Barooga's favorite annual celebration.
Held on Easter Sunday each year, this free family friendly event draws thousands of people to Thompson's Beach for great music, attractions, games, food and drink and the iconic Duck Race!
Organised and ran by CBBT with support from the Moira Shire Council, this is another example of how our members fees are used to support a more livable and fun Cobram Barooga.
