AUSTRALIAN BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOUR

February 2024

Held at Thompsons Beach during the first week February, the Australian Beach Volleyball national tour event and Under 19s and 21s Championships attracts over 80 teams from all over Australia as well as a number of international players from countries such as Canada, the US, Russia, France, Germany and England. Some of the world's best players, including Olympic and Commonwealth Games medalists regularly attend and play.

 

Ran over 6 days this event generates more than $350,000 in spending into our local economy.

 

A free family friendly event, the beach volleyball is enjoyed live by thousands of spectators and with broadcast on SBS television provides wide promotion for the towns, confirming Thompsons Beaches reputation as one of Australia's iconic beaches.

MURRAY RIVER
FESTIVAL OF GOLF

January 2024

Held at in January each year, the Murray River Festival of Golf incorporating the Webex Players Series Murray River is a week long golfing extravaganza featuring some of the best male and female professional golfers in Australia.

 

Televised live and on demand on Fox Sports and Kayo, the Players Series is watched by more than 350,000 people every year and includes integrated promotion of the region and golf on the Murray.

 

The Festival of Golf generates over $400,000 in direct spending locally as well as millions in promotion for the region

VICTORIAN UNIVERSITIES
MIXED ULTIMATE GAMES

June 2024

Held in June each year at Apex Park and the Cobram Showgrounds, the Vic Ultimate Mixed University Games bring over 200 ultimate frisbee participants from Victoria, NSW, the ACT and SA to Cobram Barooga for a full week.

 

Being out of traditional holiday periods, this event is extremely valuable as it is estimated to generate in excess $285,000 in local expenditure and supports local accommodation, hospitality, tourism and retail businesses.
